Burnout
With my semester rapidly becoming more intense and stressful I am foreseeing some reduction in the number of my blog postings. Some days I feel absolutely overwhelmed (normal!, according to my advisors) and some days I am sure this will all come together. I am preparing with my advisor Patric for a presentation at the AAA (American Anthropological Association) conference next week in San Fransisco. A few weeks later I head to Kodiak for New Words Council and Language Committee meetings, and then return to Fairbanks to immediately launch into my qualifying exams, which will be two 20 page papers spread over 2 weeks. In January I write my third exam paper, which needs to be of publishable quality, and then do an oral exam. My papers will be on 1) Language Policy and Planning, 2) how Indigenous epistemology and Indigenous theory inform an action research methodology, and 3) working with Elders in emic research. When I have passed my exams I will advance to candidacy, and then all I have to do is write the dissertation...

Hi April,
Thanks for sharing your schedule---hang in there. I'm thinking of you. You've got a busy couple of months ahead of you. Makes my schedule seem like childs play!!! I can't complain about being busy anymore.
We sure look forward to having you, Jeremy and Emmy back in Kodiak in January!
Take Care, and I sure enjoy your blog!!
:) Zoya
